General Information
Applicants are considered individually on the basis of their high school records, standardized test scores, and school and community achievements.
Letters of recommendation or other supporting material will also be considered by the committee if present in the student's file.
Transcripts must be official copies sent directly from your high school to the Office of Admissions at your request.
If you did not designate Georgetown College as a score recipient when you registered for the ACT or SAT I, you should submit an additional score request card which can be obtained from your high school guidance office or the Office of Admissions.
Acceptance Regular Admission
You will receive word of the admissions committee's decision within approximately two weeks after all required items have been received.
If you are accepted for admission, you will receive an official letter of admission and should submit your letter of acceptance along with a $200 student deposit within 30 days.
If you have not made a firm decision among colleges at that time, you may ask for a deferment, until May 1, by writing the Office of Admissions.
For fall applicants, the admission deposit is refundable until May I (December 15 for spring).
Thereafter it is nonrefundable though credited to the student's account upon enrollment.
Medical Questionnaire, Housing Form, and Autobiography
When a student is offered admission by Georgetown College, a medical questionnaire, autobiography, and housing form will be sent from the dean of student development.
These items must be completed and returned before a student formally registers.
Transfer Applicants
Georgetown College requires that students seeking to transfer to Georgetown College be in good academic and social standing at the last institution attended.
A transfer student must submit official transcripts from his or her high school and each college attended.
For transfer students of proven achievement, ACT or SAT I scores may not be required.
Registration and Orientation
Details about these events will be mailed to admitted students in April.
Several early registration workshops are held in spring and early summer.
An orientation for beginning freshmen and transfer students entering the fall term takes place the week prior to school in August.
Financial Assistance
To be considered for college scholarships, complete the Scholarship and Financial Assistance Questionnaire and enclose it with your application agreement statement.
Students who wish to be considered for any need based aid programs must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January I and before February 15 for maximum consideration.
However, late applicants will also be considered on a rotating basis as long as funds remain.
Students should file the FAFSA only (supplemental federal or state forms are not required by Georgetown).
The FAFSA is distributed by high school guidance offices in December and January.
Be sure to list Georgetown College as a FAFSA recipient on the form.
All students are expected to file the FAFSA.
Financial assistance awards will not be made unless the FAFSA has been received by Georgetown College or other arrangements have been made by calling the Office of Student Financial Planning.
Office of Student Financial Planning: (502) 863-8027 or (800) 788-9985
