Degree Seeking Students

Freshman Applicants

International Students

In addition to satisfying the appropriate credential requirements, you may need to provide the following documents:

  • If you attended high school or college outside the United States:
    1. You must submit a verbatim notarized English translation of your records if the documents are not in English.
    2. You must submit a copy of your college records to Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE), PO Box 92970, Milwaukee, WI 53202, or World Education Services, Inc. (WES), PO Box 11623, Chicago, IL 60611-0623 for a course-by-course or detailed report. Speed School applicants with less than 24 college credit hours are also required to have their high school record evaluated for a general report.
  • If English is your second language, you must verify your English proficiency. English proficiency may be verified by submitting OFFICIAL satisfactory scores (550 or higher for paper-based test or 213 or higher for computer-based test) from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or by successful completion of the Advanced Level of the university's Intensive English as a Second Language (IESL) program.
  • If you are on a visa that requires an I-20 or DS2019, you will need to complete an international financial supplement form and submit appropriate financial documentation to the International Center.

Readmission Applicants
Previous U of L students who have not attended any other college or university please refer to admission website for detailed requirements.

Transfer Students
Transfer applicants with 23 or fewer semester hours earned or in progress must submit the following:

  • Official high school transcript including the date of graduation. An official transcript must also be submitted from EACH college or university attended even if credit was not earned.

Transfer applicants with 24 or more semester hours earned or in progress must submit the following:

  • An official transcript from EACH college or university attended must be submitted even if credit was not earned. All University of Louisville transcripts will automatically be submitted with this application.

*The University of Louisville will consider a waiver of application fee for applicants who currently participate in one of the following programs: Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), Mediciad, Food Stamps, Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI), Job Training Partnership Act benefits based on family income, a high school student who participate in the Free Lunch program, or high school students who are eligible for an ACT/SAT test fee waiver.

    *High school visitors who have not completed the first half of their junior year must have the approval of the instructor for the U of L course the Academic Appeals Committee (petition must be submitted along with the application).

Visiting Students

  • If you are applying to be a visitor in the Speed School of Engineering you must submit TRANSCRIPTS from EACH college or university you have attended.

    Visiting Students to CBPA wishing to enroll in 300 or higher level business courses must see an adviser and submit copies of all college TRANSCRIPTS verifying completion of required prerequisites and GPA.

    International students on an F-1 visa may only apply as visiting students if they are on an approved exchange program through U of L or they are visiting from an educational institution within the United States. An official visiting letter must be provided in both scenarios.

Nondegree applicants are processed through the first day of classes, however, students are encouraged to apply early and to allow a minimum of two weeks processing time.

Financial Aid
All students applying for federal and state aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Online applications are recommended and can be accessed at www.fafsa.ed.gov after January 1. The U of L FAFSA code is 001999.
