| Kentucky Education Savings Plan Trust |
| Description: | The Trust helps families save, in a planned way, for their children's higher education. Deposits can be as small as $25 (or $15 if made through payroll deduction), and the Trust offers investment options designed to help families meet future higher education costs. | Kentucky's Affordable Prepaid Tuition (KAPT) |
| Description: | Kentucky's Affordable Prepaid Tuition (KAPT) was established by the 2000 Kentucky General Assembly. The plan allows Kentuckians to contribute to a child's prepaid tuition account, which can be used at any accredited postsecondary school in the country. Depending on which KAPT plan is purchased, the program guarantees to pay tuition at Kentucky's public colleges or universities or average tuition at Kentucky's private colleges and universities in exchange for early tuition purchase by lump sum or monthly payments. The accounts create a state trust fund that makes long-range investments so the earnings exceed the inflationary rise of college tuition. No new contracts may be signed until July 1, 2004, at the earliest. |
